Senior Project Manager - Building Automation

Overview

In this role you lead building automation projects, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver on time, within budget, and safely. You will manage customer communications, contracts, and documentation while advancing HVAC/BMS/security initiatives. The position sits within a mission-driven, safety-conscious environment focused on efficiency and sustainability. You'll influence project outcomes through leadership, planning, and hands-on problem solving.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project financials, including budgets, forecasts, and billings
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontracting documents; control schedules, change orders, and invoicing
  • Own customer communications and maintain project status reporting
  • Ensure site safety plans, audits, PPE, toolbox talks and site compliance
  • Plan and forecast resources; create a Project Execution Plan and monitor execution
  • Organize and maintain contract documents in Studio360 and use Schneider Electric project management tools
  • Document management: RFIs, meeting minutes, punch lists, submittals, logs, and issues
  • Develop and track project revenue, schedules of values, and cost-to-complete
  • Drive gross margin improvement via labor efficiency, outsourcing, and purchasing
  • Coordinate change orders, pricing, and proposal preparation
  • Deliver final project documentation to customer and secure payments
  • Prepare recovery plans for non-performing projects; QA/QC for project docs
  • Support field startup activities and project turnover to service
  • Possess a four-year engineering/technical degree or equivalent work experience
Key requirements
  • 6+ years in project engineering or combined engineering/technician experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, BMS, and/or security systems
  • Construction industry knowledge; familiarity with contracting, change management, and claims
  • Proven leadership, delegation, and team-direction abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication; customer-facing experience
  • Ability to manage safety and compliance on job sites
