Overview As a Resident Engineer/Inspector, you serve as the owner's on-site representative for large-scale heavy civil projects. You oversee construction, enforce design and contract requirements, and coordinate with contractors, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure timely, safe delivery. This PE-driven role blends engineering oversight with construction management and leadership. You will solve field issues, mentor junior staff, and monitor progress against schedule and budget, delivering high-profile infrastructure with autonomy and accountability.

Responsibilities- Serve as the owner's on-site representative for construction activities and contractor operations
- Ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, codes, and contract documents
- Conduct daily field inspections, document progress, safety, and quality issues
- Resolve field conflicts and design clarifications promptly to minimize delays
- Manage multiple stakeholders including contractors, design teams, utilities, and regulators
- Manage project schedules using Primavera P6 and update progress
- Track budgets, forecast expenditures, and manage cash flow
- Review and approve change orders and assess budget impacts
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly progress reports and project documentation
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and inspections to ensure quality
- Act as liaison between owner and project teams to align with goals
- Support risk mitigation, scheduling, and estimating processes
Key requirements- Active PE license in New York (required)
- New Jersey PE license preferred
- Bachelor's in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in resident engineering, inspection, and project management for heavy civil projects
- Experience with bridges, tunnels, foundations, utility relocations, and large-scale infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and standards
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, scheduling, budgeting, estimating, and forecasting
- Experience managing change orders, contract administration, and negotiations
- Professional certifications such as CCM, PMP, or CWI strongly preferred
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
