Senior Attorney- Real Estate

Overview

As a real estate legal advisor, you will guide and support the company's real estate operations, disputes, and transactional matters. You will act as a strategic partner to business stakeholders, shaping risk management, compliance, and portfolio optimization. You will lead and coordinate real estate due diligence, title and survey reviews, and negotiations on leases, purchases, and easements. The role involves coordinating with M&A and outside counsel to enable efficient, high-value legal support across the portfolio. You will work in a collaborative environment to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents (leases, amendments, estoppels, purchase agreements, easements, SNDAs, demand letters).
  • Provide counsel to Real Estate Department and field operations on real estate matters.
  • Coordinate real estate due diligence for M&A transactions with internal teams and outside counsel.
  • Oversee title and survey review and resolve title issues in acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing.
  • Manage landlord-tenant disputes and coordinate with outside counsel on real estate controversies.
  • Identify real estate risks and develop mitigation strategies; ensure compliance with real estate laws and regulations.
  • Advise on land use, zoning, permitting, and entitlement matters for development and operations.
  • Manage and evaluate outside counsel for cost-effective, high-value representation.
  • Research and evaluate legal and technology tools for Real Estate and Legal Department optimization.
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctorate and active bar admission in at least one state.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant legal experience with real estate transactional focus.
  • Ideal: combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate legal concepts into business guidance.
