Scientist, In Vivo Process Development Downstream

Overview

In this role you will design and optimize scalable downstream processes for Lentivirus manufacturing, applying chemistry, biochemistry, or engineering to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions. You will work with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing, scale-up, and process improvement while mentoring colleagues. The role offers ownership of end-to-end process performance and opportunities to shape viral vector bioprocessing.

Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize scalable, safe, and cost-effective downstream processes for Lentivirus manufacturing
  • Develop technical solutions using advanced scientific/engineering principles to ensure soundness and performance
  • Support manufacturing activities and scale-up to improve process performance
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations and ensure efficient execution and documentation
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with training and safety guidelines
  • Apply statistical methods and basic modelling for experimental design and data analysis
  • Train and mentor colleagues, sharing skills and troubleshooting techniques
  • Communicate technical outcomes through reports and presentations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary groups to solve complex problems
  • Work independently with broad autonomy on moderately complex assignments
Key requirements
  • Strong scientific understanding and hands-on proficiency in downstream unit operations for large biomolecules (chromatography, filtration)
  • Bioprocess scale-up principles for large biomolecules
  • Working knowledge of cGMP principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis software (JMP, GraphPad)
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a dynamic team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
