Senior Actuarial Consultant - Long Term Care Reserving (Life & Health)

Overview

In this role you will drive LTC reserving and financial processes to enable accurate financial reporting and risk-managed performance. You will work with cross-functional partners to modernize data workflows and support the monthly close and reserve testing. You'll translate complex actuarial data into insights for senior management and guide teams through evolving industry standards. The position offers hybrid work, actuarial exam support, and a focus on professional growth within a collaborative, mission-driven LTC unit.

Responsibilities
  • Manage monthly reserving and financial close with complex actuarial calculations
  • Drive reserve determination for monthly close and annual reserve testing for LTC business
  • Own data preparation workflow improvements through modern tools and streamlined processes
  • Ensure accuracy of financial reports with SOX controls in collaboration with Finance and Actuarial teams
  • Produce technical reports and present findings to actuarial staff and senior management
  • Facilitate technical guidance to Claims and Finance on actuarial issues
  • Monitor LTC experience and financial trends across LTC and structured settlements
  • Manage project teams and lead or participate in special projects
  • Mentor less experienced team members and stay current on industry trends
Key requirements
  • Strong actuarial and financial expertise with product-specific knowledge
  • Advanced analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Project management and team leadership abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions
  • Experience in SOX-controlled environment and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with SQL, ETL tools, BI tools, and Excel
  • Knowledge of insurance reserve accounting standards (GAAP/LDTI) is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • ETL tools (SQL, Alteryx)
  • BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
