Overview In this role you own and lead the bid estimation process for utility infrastructure projects, guiding the estimating group from bid strategy through hand-off to operations. You work closely with project teams to produce defensible, cost-based estimates and ensure alignment with client RFPs and scope. You shape bid packages, test subcontractor pricing, and drive continuous improvement for future bids. This is a hands-on leadership role in a contracting firm focused on competitive, accurate tendering.

Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the estimating team
- Convert client RFPs and scopes into complete cost estimates
- Perform quantity take-offs and build bid schedules from plans and specs
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy sessions and site walks
- Define subcontractor and supplier packages and validate pricing
- Assemble bid packages and secure internal approvals
- Monitor cost performance and feedback learnings into future bids
- Support project managers during hand-off, resource planning and change orders
Key requirements- 8+ years in estimating with increasing responsibility
- Experience in utility infrastructure or heavy civil estimating
- Proficiency with commercial estimating software: B2W, Accubid, HCSS or similar
- Strong Excel; scheduling in MS Project or P6
- Ability to derive a clean scope from plans, specs and bid documents
- Degree in engineering, construction management or finance preferred; equivalent experience considered
