Overview

As an Underwriting Specialist in Accident & Health at AIG, you drive profitable growth by underwriting complex risks for Corporate and Specialty markets. You will mentor junior underwriters, build strong broker and client relationships, and collaborate across Sales, Claims, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Risk & Compliance to support strategic initiatives. Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new and renewal business for Corporate and Specialty Markets, negotiating pricing and terms
  • Monitor adherence to underwriting requirements and guidelines for assigned book
  • Maintain underwriting discipline and delegated authority limits
  • Review portfolio analytics and guide decision-making on actions
  • Develop long-term broker/client relationships to grow profitability
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Business & Product Leaders to target accounts and cross-sell
  • Identify and manage special underwriting projects as needed
  • Foster collaboration, innovation, and inclusion across the team and with stakeholders
Key requirements
  • 8+ years of Accident & Health underwriting experience
  • Proven ability to grow profitability and production
  • Strong customer service ethic and understanding of business processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication and influencing skills
  • Planning, execution, and negotiation capabilities
  • Self-motivation and ability to set strategic direction
  • Ability to lead and contribute in a team to meet strategic goals
  • Knowledge of country regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Strong presentation, prioritization, and time management
  • Ability to motivate and gain trust from markets and colleagues
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, and distribution systems
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
