Director, Corporate Counsel- Litigation

Overview

In this role you provide strategic litigation support and risk guidance to the organization. You partner with senior leadership and external counsel to shape litigation strategy, assess legal risk, and manage active and potential disputes. You translate complex legal developments into actionable insights to protect business objectives and ensure compliance. The role combines advisory support, negotiation of key documents, and cross functional collaboration in a fast paced corporate setting.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and support litigation, claims, disputes, investigations, and other legal proceedings involving the organization
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external counsel to develop litigation strategy, assess risk, manage case activity, and control legal costs
  • Draft, review, and negotiate settlement documents, confidentiality agreements, and other legal documents as needed
  • Advise senior leadership and business partners on legal risks, contractual obligations, and dispute resolution options
  • Monitor applicable laws, regulations, and legal developments that may impact litigation, regulatory enforcement, or business operations
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients, outside counsel, advisors, and other third-party partners
  • Prepare legal analyses, recommendations, and reports to support informed business decision-making and risk mitigation
  • Ensure legal matters are handled in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable legal requirements
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience (ideally both law firm and in-house)
  • Demonstrated experience managing litigation, claims, disputes, investigations, and working with outside counsel
  • Strong knowledge of litigation management
  • Ability to analyze complex legal and business issues and balance risk with business objectives
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating settlement documents, confidentiality agreements, and other legal documents
  • Sound legal judgment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management including senior executives
