Job description

Overview

In this role you will design and implement robust database architectures to support data-driven decisions across the organization. You will work within a cross-functional team to model data, migrate data from legacy systems, and ensure security and compliance. You'll shape data strategy, enable reporting and analytics, and mentor peers to build scalable data solutions. This position offers impact across operations and product delivery in a maritime SaaS context. You will operate in a hands-on, collaborative environment that values proactive problem-solving and data-driven insights.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and database implementation
  • Design and build relational databases, conceptual/logical data models, and flowcharts
  • Develop Databases, Data Warehouses, and Multidimensional Databases
  • Define data archiving, MDM, reporting, and analytical strategies
  • Create database solutions to store and retrieve information
  • Act as data custodian, providing insights for business decisions
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Define and enforce organizational data strategy
  • Provide MIS operational support
  • Design system architecture with physical structure, security, backup, and recovery specs
  • Provide database support via utilities, user support, and issue resolution
  • Mentor junior team members and peers on tools and systems
Key requirements
  • Bachelor degree in a data processing discipline or equivalent experience
  • Typically 12 years in database design/analysis and 6 years in Oracle 11g or above
  • Enterprise database development experience with at least 5 years in design
  • Deep SDLC tool knowledge
  • Experience with Oracle 11g and MS SQL Server
  • Hands-on ETL experience
  • Knowledge of IBM InfoSphere DataStage a plus
  • Experience with Data Marts, star/snowflake schemas, and multi data models
  • MSBI familiarity and Azure cloud exposure a plus
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL
  • Team collaboration and training ability
