Overview

In this role you will lead planning and execution of utility infrastructure for QTS data center campuses across North America. You will interface with energy leaders, developers, and operations to ensure timely power delivery and interconnection. You will manage substation and transmission line design, permitting, and construction, plus budgets and schedules. You will coordinate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and gas providers to energize sites. This role offers high-impact work shaping critical infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute a plan for timely power delivery to development sites
  • Assess utility capacity and interconnection feasibility for new sites
  • Manage partners and consultants for substation and transmission line design/construction
  • Lead standardization of substation design and distribution feeds
  • Coordinate transmission line development: routing, ROW, permitting, and easement strategy
  • Support interconnection with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and regulators to energize sites
  • Manage budgets and forecasts for substation and transmission line work
  • Develop equipment specifications and procure long-lead substation and transmission line materials
  • Oversee construction of multiple substation/transmission line sites
  • Track power delivery timelines and interdependence of interconnections
  • Support natural gas utility development: routing, service agreements, permitting, and alignment with campus needs
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of medium/high-voltage substation, transmission line, or utility infrastructure construction management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex utility or infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of transmission line design, construction, interconnection, and natural gas utility processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint for exec reports, Excel for budgets)
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable in a high-growth environment
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with utilities, providers, and regulators
  • High- and medium-voltage electrical design or construction
