Overview

In this role, you will advise senior management on complex water contract operations, focusing on negotiating and administering long-term O&M agreements for water and wastewater plants. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and manage legal risk while supporting municipal environmental and sustainability goals. The position combines strategic counsel, contract negotiation, and regulatory awareness to protect the company's interests. You'll work in a hybrid Paramus, NJ setting, contributing to Veolia's leadership in environmental services.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and evaluate risk factors in business decisions and operations
  • Apply risk management techniques and provide proactive legal advice
  • Draft and negotiate agreements and other legal documents to protect the company's rights
  • Handle complex matters with multiple stakeholders in a professional manner
  • Clarify legal language for the organization
  • Stay current on new legislation and amendments
  • Promote compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with senior management, project management and other functions to advance business interests
  • Support municipal environmental and sustainability goals
  • Adapt to evolving regulatory and business environments
  • Participate actively in Legal Department activities as a team member
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • minimum 5 years of legal practice experience
  • in-house counsel experience preferred but not required
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States; state bar in good standing
  • excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
