Overview As North America Project Controls Lead in HDR's Building Engineering Services, you will shape project controls practices across BES, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget performance on large programs. You'll lead a multidisciplinary team, drive continuous improvement, and implement templates and processes that standardize controls across market sectors. You will partner with program management and regional leaders to improve project outcomes and client satisfaction, contributing to HDR's culture of collaboration and innovation.
Responsibilities- Lead the BES project controls practice and develop/maintain standards, templates, and libraries
- Coordinate with project controls staff, PMs, and leadership to drive schedule, cost, and risk management
- Mentor and develop project controls personnel and foster a community of practice
- Support pursuit teams and client relations by providing robust project controls inputs and recommendations
- Develop and implement project control plans and dashboards in collaboration with PMIS and technical teams
- Manage and direct a team of project controls and document controls specialists on programs
- Provide executive summaries on program performance to HDR and clients
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and knowledge sharing across BES and regions
- Coordinate with regional leads for workshare, knowledge exchange, and best practices
- Contribute to the development of process improvements that align with HDR's Quality Management System
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum 10 years as project controls manager on BES infrastructure projects with contracts > $100M or programs > $300M
- Experience in planning, design, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, and cost control
- Ability to manage proposals, contract reviews, and client relationships for large EPC projects
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills
- Experience with scheduling and PMIS tools; familiarity with multiple delivery methods (DBB, DB, EPCm, IPD, CMAR)
- Proficiency with MS Projects, Primavera P6, and related scheduling/dashboards; knowledge of PMIS systems (e.g., eBuilder, ProCore, Prism, Unifier, InEight)
- Certifications such as PE, PMP, PSP, CM, EVP, PMI-SP (or equivalents)
- Experience leading diverse, multi-location teams
