Overview

In this Sr. Principal, Medical Science Liaison role, you will help advance eye care through scientific leadership within Alcon's R&D function. This remote US position involves 75% travel and covers the Surgical portfolio, partnering with medical experts to share evidence-based information and influence product strategies. You will lead investigator-driven trials (Phases III/IV) and ensure safety, regulatory reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. You contribute to improving patient outcomes by integrating scientific insights with product development and medical affairs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with medical experts and KOLs
  • Support adoption of Alcon products through evidence-based scientific exchange and external insights
  • Provide general medical information to practitioners and Alcon associates; respond to unsolicited medical information requests
  • Engage in scientific discussions around Alcon product data
  • Implement medical projects and navigate investigator trials from inception to publication
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of Alcon products and current medical/scientific research
  • Collaborate with Med Info and Med Safety to resolve escalated medical issues and support adverse event reporting
  • Direct human clinical trials (Phases III/IV) for products under development; monitor adherence to protocols
  • Provide reporting information for regulatory submissions
  • Serve as medical consultant to marketing, commercial or research project teams and regulatory agencies; liaise with other corporations under licensing agreements
  • Sign off on product safety reviews
  • Interface with Medical Affairs and other departments (Commercial, QA, R&D, Regulatory, Market Access)
  • Maintain compliance with GxP, SOPs, and training requirements; support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
