Sr Research Program Manager

Overview

As Senior Research Program Manager, you oversee complex, multi-year, multi-site research programs under the Principal Investigator. You coordinate staff and resources across campuses to ensure timely project delivery, budgeting, and evaluation. You drive project plans, study designs, and communication with stakeholders while supervising team members and coordinating with sub-awards. You'll contribute to scientific outputs and align operations with regional program goals, including Rural Opioid Technical Assistance initiatives in New England.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine research project plans with senior investigators
  • Lead project teams and coordinate data staff, researchers, and per diem staff to create work plans and analysis strategies
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and grant/contract expenditures
  • Mobilize resources across UMass Chan Medical School and other campuses; monitor progress and deliverables
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate project directors, coordinators, and per diem staff
  • Author scientific papers with the PI describing results
  • Coordinate formal communications among PIs and sub-award investigators; liaise with departmental management
  • Provide day-to-day project management and address performance barriers
  • Summarize data analysis findings for project presentations
  • Perform additional duties as required
Key requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a health policy related health care field
  • 7 years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating research programs with project management and fiscal responsibility
  • Experience supervising staff and coordinating complex, federally funded, multi-site research projects in an academic setting
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills for academic audiences
