Chief Estimator - Heavy Civil & Bridge Construction

As Chief Estimator, you lead the preconstruction efforts for bridge and heavy civil projects, shaping pursuit strategy and informing senior leadership. You'll guide the estimating team, manage complex bids, and drive continuous improvement across estimating practices. Your work directly supports securing major transportation and infrastructure work across New England, in collaboration with operations and executives. This role offers impact through shaping project opportunities, team development, and strategic growth.

• base salary $150,000-$180,000

• Evaluate bidding opportunities and prioritize pursuits
• Lead the estimating process from opportunity review through bid submission
• Develop estimating schedules, allocate resources, maintain workload balance
• Direct estimate reviews and oversee bid-day activities
• Identify project risks and price strategically
• Lead estimating for Design-Build and Joint Venture opportunities
• Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners
• Coordinate estimating handoff to operations after award
• Recruit and mentor estimating staff
• Collaborate with project management, operations, and executive leadership
• Support business development and client relationships
• Continuously improve estimating procedures, systems, and best practices

• 15+ years of experience in heavy civil, bridge, or transportation construction
• Experience as Chief Estimator, Estimating Manager, Director of Estimating, or Senior Lead Estimator
• Track record of managing complex public infrastructure estimates valued at $50M+
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
• Experience with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or similar
• Design-Build and Joint Venture estimating experience is highly desirable
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
