Overview

As Senior Estimator at Parkhill, you lead cost estimation for architectural and engineering projects to validate financial feasibility throughout construction. You collaborate with design teams, contractors, and clients to align cost with design intent and support value engineering, change management, and negotiations. You drive accurate takeoffs, data-driven budgeting, and process improvements within a QA/QC framework. This role combines technical rigor with mentoring and cross-functional collaboration in a mission-driven firm.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at various design and construction stages
  • Review drawings, specs, and documentation to ensure scope reflects estimates
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to align cost with design intent
  • Evaluate bids, proposals, and subcontractor pricing for accuracy
  • Support change order evaluations and construction budget management
  • Assist in value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing databases, and market trend reports
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
  • Ensure all estimating activities comply with QA/QC standards
  • Participate in meetings related to cost planning and construction services
  • Develop quantity take-offs using digital methods
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of estimating experience in architecture, engineering, or construction services
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or civic projects
  • Strong understanding of AEC industry, construction means and methods, materials, building codes, and project phases, especially during construction administration
  • Proficiency in estimating software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
