Overview In this role you will develop accurate cost estimates for natural gas and energy infrastructure, from concept to bid. You will work closely with engineers, procurement, and project teams to support cost certainty and successful delivery. You will leverage historical data and market pricing to drive competitive bids and contribute to value engineering. This position offers exposure to large-scale energy projects and cross-functional collaboration in a hybrid setup.
Responsibilities- Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for natural gas and energy infrastructure projects
- Review drawings, specs, and bid packages to develop comprehensive estimates
- Perform quantity take-offs for civil, mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and instrumentation scopes
- Develop labour, equipment, subcontractor, and material cost estimates using current market pricing
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare bid documentation, pricing summaries, clarifications, and proposal deliverables
- Identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities in estimating
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls to validate estimate accuracy
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and productivity benchmarks
- Support value engineering initiatives and cost optimisation strategies
- Participate in estimate reviews with internal leadership and clients
- Assist with change order pricing and project cost forecasting when required
Key requirements- 3+ years of estimating experience within industrial, utility, or energy construction
- Experience estimating natural gas, pipeline, compressor station, LNG, or energy infrastructure projects preferred
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labour productivity, and sequencing
- Experience performing quantity take-offs from engineering drawings
- Knowledge of procurement processes and subcontractor pricing
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
