Overview In this role, you lead actuarial engagements for federal pension-related projects, applying advanced analytics to assess benefit programs and organizational risk. You'll guide engagement teams, shape deliverables for government clients, and mentor junior staff. The position blends technical rigor with client-facing work, impacting Special Financial Assistance programs and multiemployer plan considerations. Responsibilities- Study statistical data to build analyses
- Create probability and cost estimates for events (death, disaster, illness)
- Estimate payout provisions for various insurance coverages
- Generate and present charts to explain findings in meetings
- Analyze reports to determine next steps for clients
- Contribute to deliverable content meeting client and contract needs
- Anticipate client needs and propose solutions
- Review deliverables for accuracy and quality
- Coach junior staff
- Contribute to new business proposals and proposals development
- Manage personal and professional development
Key requirements- Actuarial credentials (EA & FSA) or progress toward ASA/EA/FSA
- 10+ years of pension experience; experience with single and multiemployer plans
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related field
- 3+ years in consulting or industry roles
- Proficiency with MS Office; strong data validation and actuarial calculations
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computerized statistical modeling software experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of ERISA and multiemployer pension plan considerations
