Overview

As a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist at Jacobs, you will support data center construction through technical interpretation of drawings and specifications. You will liaise with home office engineering, external firms, and clients to ensure revisions, permits, and field design changes are accurately managed. You'll work on world-class data center projects, applying your engineering background to resolve NCRs and guide field teams. This role blends on-site technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration to deliver critical infrastructure projects. Responsibilities
  • Resolve in-progress issues related to technical interpretation of drawings and specs, expediting responses as needed
  • Liaise with home office engineering, outside firms, and client representatives
  • Provide on-site support interpreting documents, specs, and drawings, contributing to change management
  • Engage in permitting processes with AHJs
  • Coordinate with Design-Build contractors in the field
  • Communicate with subcontractors to manage drawings and documents with revision control
  • Ensure revision control for all construction documents
  • Ensure contractors receive latest revisions
  • Manage design and installation change information and field sketch/redline processes
  • Coordinate with Project Controls and Construction on Field Design Revision
  • Act as technically competent lead for Specification deviation responses
  • Resolve Nonconformities (NCRs) with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering
  • Mentor and guide junior team members
Key requirements
  • 4-7 years in Mechanical engineering or 8-10 years in construction management of heavy-industrial facilities including data centers and life sciences
  • Understanding of construction means, methods, codes, and standards
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent, with certified technical training
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings
  • Ideally some field experience supporting construction
