Sr Director, Philanthropy, Major Gifts

In this role you lead a high-performing philanthropy team to advance major gifts and overarching fundraising strategies that support Inova Health System and its Foundation priorities. You partner with executives, clinicians, and community stakeholders to grow philanthropic impact and donor engagement. You will drive strategic direction, ensure governance and budgeting processes, and elevate long-term donor relationships. • Lead, coach, and develop a fundraising team with clear performance expectations
• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational priorities
• Maintain a portfolio of high-value donors and manage cultivation, solicitation, and closing of gifts
• Provide strategic direction for donor engagement and long-term relationship management
• Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, and stakeholders to align initiatives with funding needs
• Oversee operations to ensure policy compliance and adherence to industry best practices
• Develop and manage annual budgets, monitor finances, and achieve revenue targets
• Collaborate with Foundation leadership to advance fundraising goals and community engagement
• Establish and monitor KPIs to drive fundraising outcomes and team effectiveness

• 10 years of experience in soliciting major gifts
• 5 years of managerial experience
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)
