Overview

In this role, you will lead research and development of new resin solutions and barriers to enable more sustainable products. You will drive innovation and technology scouting in materials science, with a focus on increasing post-consumer recycled content. You'll partner across internal and external teams to guide program delivery, validate specs, and support business cases for resin/barrier solutions. This role sits at the intersection of advanced materials, manufacturing, and sustainability, offering impact at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development of next-generation resin solutions and selection of alternatives using material science expertise
  • Drive ongoing innovation and sustainability-focused technology scouting in the materials arena
  • Serve as internal expert on PCR usage and methods to increase PCR in products
  • Manage timelines and budgets for material development programs aligned with business objectives
  • Lead cross-functional, high-priority development programs with indirect leadership of project teams
  • Prescribe project management tools and engineering practices for resin/barrier solution development
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and external stakeholders
  • Support business cases with performance specs, costing, and value proposition
  • Establish inspection protocols and validate new material specifications
  • Balance creative thinking with scientific rigor to achieve results
Key requirements
  • 8-10+ years of relevant experience in materials science/engineering
  • Experience leading corporate material science programs and cross-functional teams
  • Strong knowledge of PET, PP, HDPE and basic knowledge of alternative materials
  • Expertise in plastics conversion technologies (extrusion, injection, blow molding, ISBM)
  • Ability to work autonomously in a complex R&D environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management
  • Collaborative and coachable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Materials science expertise in resins/barriers/additives
  • PCR usage strategies and validation methods
  • Injection and blow molding process impact
