Overview In this role you will plan, design, and optimize IBMi (AS400) database environments to meet business needs. You will work with cross-functional teams to model data, support development and testing, and ensure changes follow best practices. You'll monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage database objects to support enterprise applications. This position blends development and production DBA duties and emphasizes reliability, scalability, and documentation. You will act as a SME for IBMi databases and contribute to design and performance initiatives.
Responsibilities- design and implement new database environments and redesign existing systems
- monitor IBMi database performance and troubleshoot issues
- manage database objects including libraries, views, tables, stored procedures, triggers
- support developers and testing by configuring databases to development specs
- collaborate with application teams to model data supporting business processes
- ensure DB changes adhere to best practices and review proposed changes
- create technical documentation for databases
- act as SME on IBMI database structure and environment
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of IBMi/iSeries/AS400 experience
- 7+ years supporting DB2 for databases in an enterprise environment
- experience with enterprise applications
- relevant certifications or training preferred
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
