Overview

As Chief People Officer, you will align people strategies with firm growth, lead HR, talent acquisition, and L&D, and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. You'll partner with senior leadership to drive engagement, compliance, and scalable people programs. You will shape the talent ecosystem to support strategic objectives and position Johnson Lambert as a premier employer in accounting. This role offers impact across governance, analytics, and workforce development in a dynamic professional services environment.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic HR management & compliance: align people strategy with growth and service objectives; provide executive visibility on people opportunities
  • Risk mitigation: ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Data intelligence: develop analytics to track engagement, turnover risk, and workforce costs; translate findings into actions
  • Culture cultivation: foster an inclusive, values-driven internal culture
  • Strategic talent acquisition: set hiring strategy; oversee executive hires; supervise campus recruiting
  • Employer branding: promote the firm's reputation to attract professionals
  • Onboarding excellence: standardize onboarding processes and own first-year integration
  • Learning & Development (L&D): ensure CPE compliance automation; define AI/automation-driven training priorities
  • Leadership pipelines: create programs for high-potential staff to reach Partner/MD track
  • Performance frameworks: modernize performance cycles and link feedback to L&D planning
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • 3+ years of executive management experience in a CPA firm or professional services
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field; MBA preferred
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred
  • Experience with scaling HR & L&D in complex or growing environments
  • Understanding of public accounting career paths, utilization rates, and billable hour models
