Associate Principal Scientist, Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) Assay Development

Overview

In this role you will develop rugged LC-MS bioanalytical methods to support research and regulatory projects at IQVIA Laboratories in Ithaca. You will strengthen small and large molecule analysis capabilities through advanced extraction, chromatography, and mass spectrometry techniques, while guiding hand-offs and troubleshooting complex assays. You will present results, communicate progress to stakeholders, and contribute to PK/PD and biomarker analyses. This position offers the chance to collaborate across teams and contribute to transformative life-science research.

Responsibilities
  • Develop reliable LC-MS methods and extraction procedures for complex assays
  • Document project work per Assay Development processes
  • Communicate project status to leadership and PM, as needed
  • Present method development results at Prevalidation Committee Meetings
  • Interact with Project Management and clients to provide updates
  • Guide Wet Lab staff with clear instructions and communication
  • Provide method documentation and support during hand-off
  • Contribute to conference presentations and publications in PK/PD and biomarker analysis
Key requirements
  • Master's Degree (with 6-8 years) or Ph.D. (2-5 years industry experience preferred)
  • Highly experienced in LC-MS and biologic sample preparation
  • Advanced chemistry knowledge for method development
  • Experience with regulated bioanalysis, LBA, proteomics sample prep, and automation
  • Knowledge of high-resolution MS (Thermo Orbitraps, Exploris, Excedions) and triple quadrupole systems (Sciex 6500/6500+, 7500+)
  • Hands-on clinical biomarker analysis experience
  • Ability to develop and present Prevalidation Committee Meeting presentations
