Overview As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will develop, manage, and coordinate cost estimates for a wide range of building and facility projects. You will lead a team of discipline estimators, ensuring integrated estimates and schedules across multiple project types. You'll work on complex projects globally, from small facilities to large infrastructure-adjacent builds, applying your multi-discipline estimating expertise. Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate development of multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules
- Develop detailed estimates for architectural systems, building envelope, interiors, finishes, doors/hardware, and related components
- Collaborate with other estimators on cost estimates and schedules
- Coordinate input parameters for estimates and schedules
- Validate material takeoffs and quantities from drawings
- Consolidate information from all disciplines into a single estimate
- Create estimate execution plans including strategy, scope, staffing, and timelines
- Prepare labor-force work plans for estimating activities
- Produce basis of cost estimate reports for end users
- Set site-specific estimating criteria including wage and productivity rates
- Perform quality control of drawings and provide design ideas
- Support procurement and subcontractor pricing, including quotes integration
- Assist with procurement, change management, and claims valuation
- Prepare construction logistics plans and contribute innovative solutions
- Interface with management and client counterparts for estimating tasks
- Identify and quantify project risks and opportunities for cost/schedule impact
- Review designs to identify risks and opportunities for pricing
- Coordinate constructability reviews for engineering designs
- Act as primary cost estimating point of contact for clients and external stakeholders
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and improving estimating methodologies
Key requirements- Extensive cost/estimating and construction knowledge
- Experience estimating buildings/facilities across multiple sectors (commercial, industrial, institutional, etc.)
- Strong expertise in architectural/structural scopes (steel, concrete, foundations, envelope, finishes)
- Multi-discipline estimating experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of contract methods and estimating implications
- Experience with Estimating software such as InEight, Sage Timberline, On-Screen Take-Off, MCASES MII, IPE, HCSS
- Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Proven ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present estimates
- Problem-solving, creativity, and innovation in estimating challenges

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 10+ years in estimating/construction
- Professional certifications (AACE, RICS, ASPE, PMI, DBIA) an asset
