Overview The Superintendent leads on-site operations for complex construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence while coordinating with clients, the project team, and trade partners. You drive site performance, support pre-construction, and manage field activities to deliver on contract requirements. This role sits in Suffolk's Field Operations, contributing to safer, high-quality project delivery at scale. You will engage across disciplines to keep projects on plan and aligned with client expectations.

Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day site activities and OSHA safety compliance
- Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles
- Communicate progress and issues daily to the Project Manager
- Report problems promptly to enable cost-effective solutions
- Build relationships with clients and Suffolk team members
- Coordinate with General Superintendent on materials, sequencing, scheduling, and personnel
- Lead project start-up/turnover activities with Project Executive, General Superintendent, and Project Manager
- Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field
- Establish and maintain Project Baseline Schedule; ensure work aligns with contract
- Provide monthly schedule updates and two-week lookahead reports
- Ensure subcontractors attend pre-construction safety meetings and carry site safety plans and insurance
- Review safety performance and enforce budgeted staffing for safety programs
- Establish and manage project quality benchmarks and Q-Team participation
- Manage pre-construction, site organization, subcontractor performance, and field documentation
- Attend and chair project meetings (turnover, safety, foreman, schedule, closeout, owner, subcontractor)
- Complete and implement construction office checklists; maintain daily reports, logs, and logs of shop drawings
- Manage subcontractor closeout, utilities transfer, owner training, and punch lists
- Operate based in St Croix, USVI, with additional locations as noted
- Maintain drawing logs and ensure as-built drawings are current
- Ensure proper filing and document control per Suffolk standards
Key requirements- 4+ years of experience in related construction fields
- Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline
- Ability to adapt to changing processes and priorities
- Applicable area licenses
- Strong leadership and team development skills

- Capability to handle ambiguity and multi-tasking under tight oversight
- Business judgment to balance budget and construction processes
