Overview In this role you will oversee field construction for Power Grid Operations, ensuring safe, on-time execution of projects and effective contractor management. You'll act as the key point of contact for PGO contractors and guide projects from development through commissioning. You'll balance costs, schedules, permits, and safety while working with cross-functional teams to meet customer and company goals. This is a hands-on leadership role that shapes project delivery during outages, restorations, and routine construction at scale.

Responsibilities- Serve as the single point of contact for PGO contractors across project lifecycles
- Manage execution of the PGO work plan respecting scope and payment methods while ensuring financial stewardship
- Coordinate contractor resources to meet work plans and in-service dates
- Ensure safety, permitting, material coordination, and public safety at project sites
- Support commissioning and transition of assets to service; provide updates on commissioning progress
- Assist project team with costs, schedules, compliance, and adherence to standards
- Participate in pre-construction and project meetings; support outage sequencing and resource strategies
- Provide technical guidance and resolve issues with internal/external stakeholders; assist in change orders and cost estimates
- Monitor CAFs in Maximo and perform construction audits and technical reviews within deadlines
- Lead or support field activities in substation, transmission, and line projects; coordinate with engineering and outage teams
- Support after-hours POC rotation for emergent and storm work; travel as needed (5-15%)
- Ensure documentation and incident reporting compliance; coordinate with environmental controls and safety programs
- Assist with contractor onboarding and HS observations as required
- Support project management in aligning activities with outage and project schedules
- Coordinate with multiple business units to obtain agreement for work activities
Key requirements- Five years of related experience with an associate's degree; or seven years with a high school diploma/GED
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or Construction Management is preferred with three years of utility construction experience
- Valid driver's license
- Strong written and oral communication; budgeting and work management knowledge
- Experience with utility construction, crane operations, and DOT work zone compliance
- Proficiency with software tools mentioned (e.g., Maximo, Planed Outage Portal, GIS, ADMS)
- Ability to travel within Duke Energy territories and work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- H&S safety observations experience and ability to lead safe work practices
- Experience resolving disputes and coordinating with external contractors
