Senior Principal Mechanical Architect

In this role you shape next-generation mobile PCs by establishing mechanical requirements, designing and validating solutions, and coordinating internal teams and external partners. You lead architecture, CAD work, and testing to meet quality, cost, and regulatory targets while driving innovation through collaboration with ODMs and suppliers. You will influence product definitions and protect competitive advantage with robust mechanical systems. This position offers a path to impact across engineering and product strategy in a global tech leader.

• Lead design, analysis, documentation, and validation of mechanical components, assemblies and product platforms
• Develop and test mechanical prototypes, analyze and debug to ensure performance and reliability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with suppliers and teams (electrical, manufacturing, quality, marketing, industrial design) to support product development
• Apply advanced engineering tools and methodologies to solve complex mechanical design challenges
• Manage mechanical tooling, qualification processes, and product deliverables to meet milestones, schedules and quality targets
• Define mechanical architecture, component and system-level specifications, create and direct CAD models
• Interpret test data and provide status updates for projects
• Drive external suppliers and development partners to deliver robust mechanical solutions
• Shape the future product roadmap with mechanical and thermal expertise to guide next-generation devices
• Engage with ODMs and technology partners to address complex challenges and generate IP for competitive advantage

• Typically requires 12+ years with a Bachelor's; 8+ years with a Master; 5+ years with a PhD or equivalent experience
• Ability to assess trade-offs between thermal, mechanical, and electrical features
• Ability to engage cross-functional teams to identify technologies, develop proofs-of-concept, and ensure readiness
• Experience in incubating and promoting innovative mechanical concepts aligned with customer and market needs
• Experience influencing ODMs and partners to translate customer needs into robust solutions and IP
