Compute / Commvault Administrator

In this role, you will design, administer, and optimize enterprise backup and hyperconverged compute environments to support US Coast Guard missions in a secured SIPRNET. You will work within a cross-functional security-focused team to implement robust Commvault backup frameworks and maintain Cisco UCS and VMware Cloud Foundation platforms. The position emphasizes compliance with federal guidelines, disaster recovery, and audit readiness, ensuring data protection and system resilience. You will collaborate on modernization efforts, shaping how protected data and compute infrastructure scale to mission needs. This is an on-site opportunity in Alexandria, VA, with travel to Kearneysville, WV

• Administer Commvault CommCell components (CommServe, MediaAgents, VSA proxies, storage libraries)
• Design and enforce backup, storage, and retention policies per classified data handling rules
• Execute and verify regular backups across Windows, Linux, VMware, and databases
• Perform recovery testing and document processes for audits and continuity
• Manage Commvault auxiliary copy, deduplication databases, and indexing
• Apply patches and feature releases per change-management and security approvals
• Harden Commvault with DISA STIGs and STIG guidance
• Monitor health and alerts via Command Center and reports
• Manage RBAC and audit logging for Commvault
• Administer Cisco UCS, fabric interconnects, chassis, blades; maintain VMware vSphere/VCF (ESXi, vSAN, NSX-T)
• Design and maintain virtualization/computing policies for classified data
• Conduct health checks, performance monitoring, and DR testing
• Manage server profiles, templates, firmware updates, and patching
• Harden infrastructure per STIGs and guidance; monitor via vRealize Operations and Intersight
• RBAC and audit logging for VMware/UCS; support data spills, incident response, and forensic preservation
• Produce compliance reports and participate in DR exercises; maintain SOPs and recovery procedures

• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
• Commvault Administration: 3+ years hands-on experience with enterprise solutions (deduplication, auxiliary copies, indexing)
• Compute & Virtualization Engineering: 3+ years managing Cisco UCS server profiles, templates, and VMware/VCF architectures (vSAN, NSX)
• Security Architecture: ability to translate DISA STIG requirements into automated baseline configurations and hardened policies
• Infrastructure Integration: solid understanding of SAN/NAS storage integration with VMware; cross-platform Windows/Linus administration
