Overview As Senior Design Manager, you will lead complex vertical building projects delivered through Design-Build and allied delivery models, shaping technical solutions with cross-disciplinary teams. You will drive pursuit, planning, and execution across California, partnering with top contractors and design-build partners to win work and deliver value. You'll balance owner goals with constructability, cost, schedule, and design excellence, while advancing Jacobs' Design-Build growth. Responsibilities- Lead Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, and other alternative delivery pursuits and projects
- Develop and maintain relationships with California contractors, developers, and Design-Build partners
- Represent Jacobs' design leadership in contractor engagement, pursuits, and client interactions
- Partner with contractor teams during procurement and preconstruction to craft innovative, executable designs
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams through all project phases from pursuit to construction support
- Drive design strategies optimizing cost, schedule, constructability, risk, performance, and sustainability
- Facilitate collaborative workshops with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and stakeholders
- Direct development of technical concepts, validation packages, pursuit deliverables, and ATCs
- Establish and manage design execution plans, schedules, and quality management processes
- Coordinate architecture, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and interior teams
- Collaborate with project managers and construction partners to identify and manage risks
- Provide mentorship and leadership to architects, engineers, and emerging professionals

Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience leading complex building projects and multidisciplinary design teams
- Proven track record with Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, or similar delivery models
- Experience delivering large-scale vertical building projects across multiple markets (commercial, civic, higher education, municipal, industrial, etc.)
- Established relationships with major California contractors and Design-Build organizations
