Heavy Equipment Technician
Chesterfield, MI $30-$42+/hr Full-Time
We're hiring shop or field technicians at all experience levels. If you're already strong with diagnostics, hydraulics, electrical and diesel repair, there's plenty of work to keep you busy. If you're a solid diesel, automotive, ag or industrial mechanic looking to get into heavy equipment, we're open to that too.
What You'll Work On
- Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment
- Diesel engines, powertrain and drivetrain
- Hydraulic systems, cylinders, pumps and components
- Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
- PMs, inspections, service and repairs
- Install attachments, accessories and aftermarket kits
- Component R&R and general mechanical repairs
- Welding/fabrication when needed
- Test machines after repairs and make sure they're ready to work
- Complete service reports and document repairs
Shop techs work through repairs, PMs and diagnostics in the shop.
Field techs head out in a service truck to diagnose and repair equipment at customer locations. When things slow down in the field, you can come back into the shop and turn some wrenches there.
No CDL required for the service truck. CDL is a plus, and CDL trucks are available for techs who have one.
What We're Looking For
We care more about whether you can work on equipment than what your job title used to be.
- Heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, agricultural, industrial or similar mechanical experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Hydraulic and electrical experience is a plus
- Diagnostic/troubleshooting experience is a plus
- Entry-level and developing techs are welcome
- Own professional hand tools
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable, safety-minded and takes pride in doing the job right
Pay & Schedule
- $30-$42+/hr, depending on experience and skill level
- Flexible for the right technician
- Monday-Friday
- 7:30 AM-5:00 PM
- Average 45-50 hours/week
- Saturdays are occasional and rare
