GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The skilled Trades Building Construction Technology Instructor plays a pivotal role in preparing the next generation of trades professionals by delivering comprehensive, hands-on training in various skilled trades disciplines. This position is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum that meets industry standards and equips students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for successful careers. The Building Construction Technology Instructor will foster a safe and engaging learning environment that encourages student growth, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Collaboration with industry partners and continuous curriculum updates ensure that training remains relevant to evolving trade technologies and practices. Ultimately, the role aims to bridge the gap between education and industry demands, producing competent, confident, and job-ready skilled trades workers.About HBIHBI has been training and educating America's home construction workforce for more than 40 years. From innovative initiatives to creative partnerships, we remain committed to building careers and changing lives.Our programs teach highly sought after technical construction trades and entrepreneurship to youth aged 16-24 in our Job Corps programs, Military Services, our Academies, and programs for adults and youth operating behind the fence in correctional facilities.APPLY BY: September 8, 2026ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: InstructionInstructs program participants in trade skills using approved curriculumDevelops curriculum and supporting training materials, as neededCoordinates hands-on training activities including on-site and community-based projectsDemonstrates proper use of tools and equipment use, with an emphasis on safety Student Development and Placement Assists with student recruitment, placement, and as directed and/or as required by program needsMonitors, mentors, and coaches studentsFosters positive working relationships with and between funders, program partners, and other personnelParticipates in outreach and employer relationship development Classroom ManagementPerforms various administrative and reporting functions, as requiredEnsures proper use, storage, and security of tools, equipment, etc.Adherence with all applicable safety protocols (OSHA 10)WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Internal: HBI Executive Team, HBI Board of Trustees, and staff at all levelsExternal: Community channel partners, vendors, contractors and system(s) end users Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited apprenticeship or trade certification program in a relevant skilled trade.Minimum of 5 years of practical experience working in a skilled trade.Demonstrated ability to teach or train others, either through formal instruction or on-the-job mentoring.Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to skilled trades.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary education in vocational training, education, or a related field.Teaching certification or credentials specific to vocational or technical education.Experience developing curriculum and instructional materials.Familiarity with modern training technologies and e-learning platforms.Previous experience working with diverse student populations and adult learners.WORKING CONDITIONS:Usual office-type working conditions; routine physical conditions include walking, carrying, standing, hearing/listening, and sitting; nominal travel anticipated.HBI offers a competitive salary and benefits program.HBI is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
