What You ll Do
- Provide 24-hour call coverage, including patient contact during shifts
- Manage ICU patients in an open ICU model with high acuity cases
- Collaborate with hospitalists, specialists, and surgical teams for complex cases
- Perform line placements, intubations, and critical procedures as first call
- Consult on pulmonary and critical care cases, approximately 18 per day
- Support hospital staff in managing high patient volume and capacity
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and credentialing requirements
What You Need
- Valid medical license in Louisiana with clear background and current privileges
- Board-certified in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine
- Minimum of 2 years ICU and critical care experience
- Strong diagnostic and procedural skills
- Ability to work independently within a high-pressure environment
About the Assignment
This assignment is at a full-service hospital with 162 beds, including a 30-bed ICU and 24 step-down beds. The hospital operates at capacity with an average daily census of approximately 170 ED visits. Providers will work in a collaborative, high-acuity setting with in-house hospitalists, specialty backup, and 24/7 surgical coverage. The focus is on acute pulmonary and critical care, with opportunities for procedural intervention, including line placement and intubation.
