CNC/Swiss Turn Machinist Level 1

Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced CNC/Swiss Turn Machinist Level I to join their Tooling team in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Tsugami Swiss Turn machining operations.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Tsugami equipment, Fanuc controls, precision machining, and CNC programming. Working closely with the Tooling Manager, this position plays an important role in producing high-quality precision components while improving productivity, equipment reliability, and machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Tsugami Swiss Turn lathes and related machining equipment.
Perform complete machine setups, changeovers, tool changes, offset adjustments, and minor program edits.
Monitor machining operations and make adjustments necessary to maintain quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.
Read, interpret, and make minor edits to G-code and M-code programs.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and production issues.
Process parts, maintain accurate production documentation, and coordinate heat-treat operations when required.
Perform preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
Maintain appropriate levels of tooling, raw materials, and work orders.
Work with the Tooling Manager to improve machining processes, optimize tooling, reduce cycle times, and evaluate new technologies.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and communicate production or equipment concerns.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Assist with other machining operations and related responsibilities as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
Required:
5-10 years of experience setting up and operating Tsugami Swiss Turn lathes.
Strong working knowledge of Fanuc CNC controls, including program navigation, offsets, tool compensation, alarms, and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming, with the ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and perform minor program edits at the machine.
Experience performing complete machine setups and production changeovers.
Experience machining precision components to tight tolerances.
Ability to troubleshoot machining and production problems independently.
Experience improving cycle times, optimizing tooling, and maintaining consistent quality standards.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
