Position Overview
The Lead Histotechnologist provides day-to-day supervision of histology operations, helping the laboratory maintain efficiency, quality, productivity, and turnaround-time goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise specimen preparation, cutting, staining, and special testing
- Coordinate staffing and ensure appropriate coverage for calls
- Work with pathologists to evaluate the quality of slides and stains
- Implement timely and thorough corrective actions when quality concerns arise
- Identify instrument and procedural issues, assess problems, and take appropriate action
- Document corrective actions and troubleshooting steps according to laboratory procedures
- Support compliance with established quality, safety, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- AS Degree or BS Degree
- Current Florida License as either Histology Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or Clinical Laboratory Supervisor
- HT OR HTL ASCP certification pref
