Opportunity Overview
Twelve Clans Unity Hospital and Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System are seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
The CMO will provide clinical oversight and strategic leadership across the hospital and health system while partnering closely with the CEO, Chief Nursing Officer, Medical Directors, and other members of the executive leadership team. The position oversees acute and ambulatory care and plays a key role in developing a patient-centered, integrated system focused on improving quality, safety, and population health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of clinical staff, quality, patient safety, and patient experience.
- Partner with executive leadership on organizational strategy and clinical priorities.
- Lead Medical Executive Committee activities and oversee credentialing, peer review, quality, and Medical Staff Office functions.
- Ensure compliance with CMS requirements and applicable accreditation standards.
- Lead physician and medical staff recruitment.
- Supervise Medical Directors across acute, ambulatory, and behavioral healthcare.
- Identify opportunities to improve clinical quality and efficiency.
- Oversee clinical telehealth and medical education initiatives.
- Support Nebraska Trauma Tier IV designation.
- Provide direct clinical services as agreed.
- Develop relationships that expand specialty care and strengthen the employed provider team.
- Ensure culturally competent care consistent with the needs and values of the Native American communities served.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Current DEA certification.
- Completion of an approved medical residency.
- Board certification in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Psychiatry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed physician.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory and leadership experience within hospital and ambulatory environments.
- Strong executive leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience working with Native American communities.
- Public health leadership experience preferred.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality-improvement experience preferred.
