Central Texas Recruiting is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support capital maintenance and expansion projects in Houston. This role will coordinate environmental permitting throughout the project lifecycle, provide technical guidance to internal engineering and project teams, manage external permitting consultants, and help ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Support capital maintenance and expansion projects
Manage external environmental and permitting consultants and review their work
Provide technical guidance and permitting support to internal project teams
Coordinate permitting requirements throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure projects comply with applicable federal and state environmental regulations
Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to obtain and maintain required permits
Assess environmental risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Prepare required regulatory documentation and environmental reports
Lead or support environmental project planning, scheduling, cost estimation, impact assessments, and reporting
Prepare and submit complex environmental permit applications, renewals, approvals, and variances
Maintain accurate permitting schedules aligned with project milestones
Conduct environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations
Identify training needs and provide guidance, mentorship, and training to others
Monitor regulatory changes involving FERC, NEPA, Clean Water Act, ESA, and NHPA
Coordinate construction-phase compliance requirements including FERC certificate conditions, spill prevention, and restoration commitments
Develop and implement improvements in air, water, waste management, and remediation systems
Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and prepare status reports and leadership briefings
Identify and resolve permitting challenges proactively
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 4 years of environmental experience required
Experience with environmental permitting for infrastructure/construction projects
Experience with natural gas or interstate pipeline systems
Experience managing or coordinating permitting consultants
Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental permitting processes
Knowledge of FERC and NEPA requirements
Ability to manage multiple permits across large-scale projects with aggressive deadlines
Experience developing permitting timelines and integrating them into overall project schedules
Ability to work effectively with internal engineering/project teams and external consultants
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead cross-functional teams
Commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with safety as the utmost priority

Experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
Experience supporting large-scale capital projects or pipeline expansion/maintenance projects
Familiarity with environmental regulations applicable to pipeline construction and maintenance
