Job Summary
The Food Service Operations Worker is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining food service operations in a healthcare setting. This position prepares meals in large quantities while following proper sanitation, safety, and dietary procedures to help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
This is an active, hands-on position requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of foods according to regular and modified diet requirements.
Portion and serve meals on trays and through cafeteria and serving lines.
Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including cooking equipment, dish machines, and other mechanical equipment.
Safely use kitchen utensils and equipment that may have sharp edges or operate at high temperatures.
Lift up to 40 lbs. independently and up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
Set up and maintain food service and serving areas.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, fixtures, and other food service areas.
Sweep, mop, remove trash, wash dishes, and maintain overall kitchen cleanliness.
Push and transport food carts throughout the facility.
Operate vehicles when required and assist as a safety spotter when vehicles are backing.
Operate a cash register as needed.
Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Complete assigned duties accurately and within established timeframes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for approximately 80% of the workday.
Ability to bend, stoop, push carts, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work safely on wet or potentially slippery floors.
Slip-resistant shoes are required.
Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment and safely operate kitchen equipment.
Schedule
40-hour work week
Department operates 7 days a week, approximately 5:00 AM 7:00 PM
Shift: 5:00 AM 3:00 PM
Every other weekend required
Must be available for rotating weekday shifts
Schedule runs Sunday through Saturday
