Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Shoulder and Upper Extremity Orthopedic Surgeon to join SOMC Orthopedic Associates. This hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to lead and grow a shoulder and upper-extremity program within an established orthopedic group supported by a strong regional referral network.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary of $974,497
Sign-on bonus up to $100,000
Medical school loan repayment up to $200,000
Residency or fellowship stipend up to $25,000
$10,000 in relocation assistance
Performance incentives up to 10% of salary
29 paid time off days, with five additional days available for achieving the 75th percentile of wRVUs

Practice Highlights
Hospital-employed position with SOMC Orthopedic Associates
Clinic hours Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday clinic hours from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
No evening or weekend office hours
1:4 call schedule
Six-provider orthopedic group
Eight clinical staff members, including CMAs, LPNs, and orthopedic technicians
Four front-office staff members and two surgery schedulers
Radiology and athletic training support
Typical clinic volume of patients per day
Approximately 4 8 surgical procedures per day in the hospital
Office capabilities include X-ray, casting, injections, aspirations, and pin removal
Shoulder and Upper Extremity Opportunity
The recruited surgeon will have the opportunity to build a shoulder and upper-extremity practice while collaborating with an experienced orthopedic team. The anticipated case mix and growth opportunities include:
Shoulder arthroscopy
Rotator cuff and labral repair
Complex reconstruction and revision procedures
Chondroplasty and cartilage restoration
Primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty
Opportunity to expand elbow arthroscopy and elbow arthroplasty services
Management of proximal humerus and other upper-extremity fractures
Participation in general orthopedics or additional sports medicine procedures based on training and interest
Trauma and Collaboration
SOMC manages a steady volume of community orthopedic trauma, including long-bone, periarticular, pediatric, periprosthetic, hand, and foot fractures. Proximal humerus and hip fractures are especially common. Most open fractures and complex pelvic or acetabular trauma are referred to tertiary centers.
