Services are available to more than 196,000 veterans living in a 53-county area of western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and northwest Arkansas POSITION DESCRIPTION General duties for X-Ray Tech: Responsibilities/Duties/KSAs The X-Ray Technologist has knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy, recognizes unusual images and determines proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest. Performs radiographic examinations of the skull torso and extremities for routine physical examinations, and for diagnosis of illness or injuries to accident victims. Check system for operation and assess acceptable performance based on established guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of calibration parameters and the ability to make adjustments as needed. Performs radiographic exams at the bedside and in the operating rooms providing diagnostic x-rays to the surgeons and professional staff on patients that are unable to be x-rayed in the Radiology Service due to incapacity or surgical procedures, using portable x-ray units and mobile fluoroscopic units to achieve these exams. Upon request, operates the fluoroscopic unit in the cysto suite. Practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patient, staff and self. This is achieved by the use of lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead-lined walls and collimation. The technicians, to ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations, wear film badges. Be aware of and practice the safety policies/procedures of the medical center and participate in quality assurance activities as directed. Properly identifies the patient and the image. Uses left and right markers. This is essential so that mistaken identity does not occur. The technician must be certain that the patient ID band and the request are identical. DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST (X-Ray) Local or Travel BTL Technologies, Inc. Responsible for explaining exams to competent patients so that the patient understands what is to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible. May be required by procedure or patient's condition to monitor vital signs, recognize allergic reactions and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Requires knowledge of image acquisition in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Current Shift Mon-Fri 8:00am to 4:30pm (Shifts may change & Call may be required) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree or Certificate in a diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) required Two (2) years of related experience Must be familiar with portable X-Ray machines and C-Arms. Must possess knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy, recognizes unusual images, and determining proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest Must possess current BLS issued by the American Heart Association Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office products Ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship A Real ID (Tennessee REAL ID or any other U.S. State) and/or unexpired U.S. Passport required to move through the credentialing process TOTAL COMPENSATION: $45.00 Hourly Base Pay Additional $5.09 hourly supplement health insurance monthly premiums and/or be placed in Team Members 401a account Travel Stipend $123.00 daily (for commute greater than 50 miles) Paid Time Off: 11 Legal Holidays, Sick Time, Vacation Contact: Debra Kent, Recruiter (email removed)
