- Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
- Call Coverage: Weekend rounding on Saturday and Sunday with subsequent call coverage; additional call as needed

Physician Assistant Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience; new graduates will not be considered
- Board Certified Physician Assistant
- Active Pennsylvania Physician Assistant license; candidates requiring a new state license will not be considered
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting cardiothoracic surgery and heart-team operations
- Ability to provide local coverage as required
- Clean background required
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and care-coordination skills
Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Responsibilities
- Support the cardiothoracic surgery team in the operating room and inpatient hospital setting
- Perform preoperative physical examinations and patient evaluations
- Round on adult cardiothoracic surgery patients, including weekend rounding
- Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and postoperative complications
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Assist with cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Perform suture removal and chest tube insertions
- Perform endoscopic retrieval procedures as clinically appropriate
- Write prescriptions within scope of practice
- Coordinate care with surgeons, nurses, specialists, patients, and families
- Provide overnight, weekend, and on-call coverage for urgent patient needs
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in Epic
