Med Ninjas is seeking an accomplished Cardiac Surgeon for a permanent Director of Cardiac Surgery leadership position in Detroit, Michigan. This is a senior-level opportunity to lead an adult cardiac surgery program at a tertiary-care hospital while remaining clinically active and contributing to surgical education, quality improvement, recruitment, and strategic growth.

The Director will provide both clinical and strategic leadership for the cardiac surgery program, with responsibility for:

  • Adult cardiac surgery clinical excellence
  • Program development and strategic growth
  • Quality and performance initiatives
  • Physician and faculty recruitment
  • Developing a collaborative, high-performing clinical culture
  • Multidisciplinary cardiovascular collaboration
  • Surgical education and mentorship
  • Continued expansion of the cardiac surgery service line

This position is designed for an established surgeon with a sustained record of excellence in adult cardiac surgery and an interest in shaping the future direction of a growing program.

Academic & Teaching Opportunities

The position includes meaningful academic involvement through a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program, including:

Academic appointments with Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine may be available based on experience, scholarly accomplishments, and professional standing.

Required Qualifications
  • Board Certification required
  • Cardiac Surgery Fellowship required
  • Minimum 5+ years of Cardiac Surgery experience required
  • BLS required
  • DEA required
  • CSR/CDS required
  • Michigan medical license highly preferred
  • Previous management experience preferred
Practice Environment

The position is based at a 772-bed Level I Trauma Center within a large integrated health system.

The cardiac surgery program operates in a tertiary-care environment with multidisciplinary clinical support and access to system-wide resources for complex and high-acuity patient care.
