Primary Care Medical Director Southwestern Vermont

3-Day Clinical / 2-Day Admin $275,000-$325,000 Base + Signing Bonus & Full Family Premium Support


Are you a Board-Certified Family Physician looking to step into executive clinical leadership without taking on 60-hour workweeks or sacrificing patient care quality?


We are seeking a Primary Care Medical Director to lead our fully integrated, community-focused health center in Southwestern Vermont. This position offers a 50/50 balance between clinical practice and strategic leadership, backed by an exceptional support system designed to eliminate physician burnout.

  • Work-Life Balance Built into the Schedule: 4-day or 5-day schedule options. Direct clinical time is capped at 2.5 days per week (plus 0.5 days for admin/charting and 2 full days for leadership/program development).

  • 1:1 Dedicated Support: Every provider is paired with a dedicated Medical Assistant, alongside full team support from triage nurses, a population health manager, a community health worker, and a referral specialist.
  • Whole-Person Care Model: Fully integrated primary care, psychiatry, behavioral health, dental, and community health services under one roof.

Compensation & Financial Highlights

  • Base Salary: $275,000 - $300,000 to start, with a clear path to $325,000 .
  • Sign-On & Relocation: Generous signing bonus, relocation stipend, and direct student loan support.
  • Time Off: 5 weeks CTO, 8 paid holidays, plus 1 week paid CME ($ CME allowance included).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary care to a diverse rural patient population across all age groups.
  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of primary care nurse practitioners and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate on program development, quality improvement, and expansion of integrative community health initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree; Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine .
  • Experience or strong interest in clinical leadership and mentorship (we are willing to train and mentor promising candidates into the leadership scope).
  • Active (or eligible for) Vermont medical license and DEA registration.
