Job Description
A confidential inpatient behavioral health program in the St. Louis, MO area is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist Medical Director to lead adult psychiatric care in a mental health and substance abuse setting.
This is a strong fit for a psychiatrist who wants a leadership seat while staying clinically involved. Current census is around 12 patients and is expected to grow over the next 2 months , giving the incoming Medical Director the opportunity to step in early, establish structure, and help shape psychiatric care as the program ramps.
The ideal physician will bring strong inpatient psychiatry experience, comfort treating adult psychiatric and substance use populations, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams with confidence and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric leadership for an adult inpatient behavioral health program
- Evaluate and treat patients with mental health and substance use conditions
- Lead medication management, treatment planning, and acute stabilization
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, case management, utilization review, and facility leadership
- Support quality of care, documentation standards, patient safety, and clinical consistency
- Provide guidance to clinical teams as census grows
- Balance clinical care with Medical Director-level oversight
Qualifications
- MD or DO psychiatrist
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Missouri license preferred, or ability to obtain
- Inpatient psychiatry experience strongly preferred
- Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, CMO, or senior attending leadership experience preferred
- Comfortable with adult mental health and substance abuse populations
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Able to work onsite in the St. Louis, MO area
Schedule
Full-time onsite role.
Final schedule, call, and weekend expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation
Compensation expected at $350K+ , depending on experience, leadership background, and final scope.
