Position Overview
We are seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in a correctional healthcare setting in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.
Schedule
- Monday: 12:00 PM 8:00 PM
- Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
- No call responsibilities
- Full-time coverage required
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care for patients in an infirmary and correctional healthcare setting.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment and care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Evaluate and manage acute medical issues.
- Order medications, diagnostic testing, referrals, and other appropriate treatment.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, disease prevention, and disease management.
- Perform basic procedures, including suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage.
- Provide clinical guidance and oversight to advanced practice providers and clinical support staff.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, and other clinical activities as required.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine .
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Active Pennsylvania medical license required.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to commit to a minimum assignment of 26 weeks.
