Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Internal Medicine Physician to join a well-established hospitalist team in Rome, NY. This is a full-time, permanent night shift position offering a balanced 7-on/7-off schedule with no on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be board eligible in Internal Medicine and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to a manageable census of approximately 5?10 patients per night.
- Perform admissions from the emergency department and direct admissions, including thorough histories, physical exams, and diagnostic assessments.
- Manage acute medical conditions, including ICU patients, with 24/7 intensivist support for complex cases.
- Document all clinical encounters in the Paragon EMR system in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, case managers, and ancillary teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Develop and implement safe and efficient discharge plans, including follow-up care and medication reconciliation.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and ensure smooth handoffs between day and night teams.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and medical staff bylaws.
- Mentor residents, students, or advanced practice providers as applicable.
- Demonstrate professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and excellent communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
