An established community health organization in Chicago is seeking an experienced physician leader to serve as an Interim / Fractional Site Medical Director .
This is a leadership-focused assignment rather than traditional clinical coverage. Approximately 80% of the role will focus on administrative and operational leadership , with approximately 20% focused on clinical oversight .
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day physician leadership for the primary care site
- Partner closely with the Practice Manager and organizational medical leadership
- Supervise, coach, and support physicians and APPs
- Evaluate provider productivity and performance
- Support clinical quality initiatives and established metrics
- Improve provider engagement, accountability, communication, and collaboration
- Identify operational and clinical issues affecting site performance
- Implement practical solutions to improve quality, productivity, and overall performance
- Provide clinical oversight and guidance to the provider team
- Help stabilize site leadership during the organization's permanent Medical Director search
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Active Illinois physician license
- Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Family Medicine strongly preferred
- Previous Medical Director, Site Medical Director, Clinical Director, or comparable physician leadership experience
- Strong ambulatory primary care experience
- FQHC or community health experience strongly preferred
- Epic experience
- Experience supervising and developing physicians and APPs
- Strong understanding of clinical quality, productivity, and performance metrics
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to enter an established practice, build trust quickly, identify issues, and drive meaningful improvement
