Position OverviewA leading Pediatric Cardiac Care Center in NY is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner for a locums assignment.
The 16-bed acuity-adaptable Pediatric Cardiac Care Center cares for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease. The APP serves in a primary covering provider role and works closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Clinical Responsibilities: The APP team manages a broad range of high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients, including:
- Pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients
- Complex congenital heart disease
- High-risk single-ventricle physiology
- Open chest management
- Arrhythmia management
- Vasopressor support
- External and internal pacemakers
- VA/VV ECMO
- CRRT
- PICU boarder patients
- Adult congenital heart disease patients requiring medical or post-operative management
The role requires strong critical-care knowledge and ICU procedural skills, although the position is not primarily procedural.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU APP experience
- Strong knowledge of complex cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active New York State RN license in good standing
- Active New York State NP license in good standing
- Current national NP certification
- BLS certification
- PALS certification
- Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred
