WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Pennsylvania. This assignment provides coverage for physician vacations and holidays, offering a mix of surgical cases, inpatient consults, CVICU rounding, and 24-hour call responsibilities within a collaborative cardiovascular surgery program.

• Start Date: Ongoing Coverage Need
• Coverage Type: Locum Tenens
• Commitment: Approximately 7 Shifts Per Month
• Schedule: 7 10 Day Consecutive Call Stretches
• Coverage Model: 24-Hour Call Coverage
• Setting: Inpatient Hospital-Based Cardiothoracic Surgery
• EMR: Epic
• Credentialing Requirement: Two Years of Case Logs Required with Presentation

This opportunity is designed to provide vacation and holiday coverage for an established cardiothoracic surgery program. The locum physician will focus on inpatient surgical care, consults, CVICU management, and call coverage. No outpatient clinic responsibilities are anticipated.

• Cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Inpatient consults
• CVICU rounding and post-operative management
• Emergency and urgent surgical coverage
• Weekend rounding with APP support
• Participation in 24-hour call rotation

• Surgical cases generally begin between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM
• Day typically concludes around 5:00 PM depending on case volume and patient acuity
• Responsibilities include:
  • Operating room cases
  • Inpatient consults
  • CVICU rounding
  • Post-operative patient management

• 24-Hour Call Coverage Required
• Average Admissions While On Call: Approximately 2
• 30-Minute Response Time Required
• Call may be taken from a local hotel within response radius
• APP Support Available Daily from 7:00 AM 6:00 PM
• Cardiac surgeon assumes coverage from 6:00 PM 7:00 AM

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
• Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement (MVR)
• ECMO Management
• Single Chamber Pacemaker Procedures
• Thoracic Surgical Procedures

• 100% Adult Patients

• Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon
• Active Pennsylvania Medical License Required
• Active Pennsylvania DEA Required
• ACLS Certification Required
• BLS Certification Required
• Minimum Two Years of Experience
• Two Years of Case Logs Required with Presentation
• IMLC Candidates Will Not Be Considered
