Job Description: Position Overview:
Our client, a well-established New York civil defense firm, is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join its growing practice.
This position offers substantial responsibility for managing civil defense matters from inception through resolution, including the opportunity to serve as first-chair trial counsel. The attorney will work directly with firm leadership, clients, and insurance carriers while handling a varied caseload.
The firm offers a hybrid work arrangement and is interested in speaking with accomplished defense attorneys who value meaningful case ownership, regular courtroom involvement, and the opportunity to play an important role in a respected practice.
Responsibilities
Manage civil defense litigation matters from inception through resolution
Handle depositions, court conferences, hearings, motions, and trials
Develop case strategy and communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers
Oversee pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
Serve as first-chair trial counsel
Collaborate closely with firm leadership on significant matters
Qualifications
Significant civil or insurance defense litigation experience
Proven first- chair trial experience
Strong deposition, motion practice, legal writing, and case-management skills
Ability to manage matters independently and exercise sound judgment
Strong client and carrier communication skills
Admission to the New York Bar
